Our B12 is Getting a Glow Up!
At bia BLENDS, we’re always on the look out for evidence-based ways to improve our formulas so they can better support you and your wellness journey. That’s why we’re excited to share that we’re upgrading the form of vitamin B12 in our products—from cyanocobalamin to methylcobalamin.
What’s Changing — and Why It Matters
We’re moving to methylcobalamin, a premium and highly bioavailable form of vitamin B12 that is methylated so your body can better absorb and use more efficiently. While cyanocobalamin has long been a stable and widely used form of B12, methylcobalamin is the form naturally found in the body and actively used in critical processes like nerve function, red blood cell formation, and energy metabolism.
Think of it as giving your body B12 in a form that’s ready to go - no extra conversion steps required.
The Benefits of Methylcobalamin (methylated B12)
With a methylated B12, your body can get to work right away with:
-
Energy production by helping convert food into usable fuel
-
Supporting your brain and nervous system health through its role in nerve signaling
-
Healthy red blood cell formation, supporting oxygen transport
-
DNA synthesis and cellular health, essential for growth and repair
Especially Helpful for Those with the MTHFR Gene Variant
Methylcobalamin may be particularly beneficial for those with MTHFR gene variants, which can affect how the body processes and utilizes certain B vitamins. Because methylcobalamin is already in an active form, it bypasses some of the metabolic steps that may be less efficient in people with these variants.
While everyone can benefit from readily usable B12, this upgrade offers additional peace of mind for those seeking forms that align with their genetic needs.
Who Else May Benefit?
Methylcobalamin can be especially supportive for:
-
Kids (caffeine-free of course), aids in healthy growth and development and focus
-
Individuals with B12 deficiency, 6% of the adult population
-
Older adults, B12 may decline with age, 20% of population over 60 is deficient
-
Individuals with digestive challenges, including those with reduced stomach acid or absorption issues
-
Those experiencing fatigue or brain fog, where B12 status may play a role
-
Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals, due to increased nutrient needs
